How Much Does do Cast Stone Precast Mantels Cost?
Welcome! We are excited to help you understand how to budget for a cast stone or precast mantel...so let's get started!
There are three things you need to consider when researching the cost of cast stone precast mantels:
- style of the mantel.
- Size of the mantel
- Can you do demolition and installation?
- Custom Made From Your Photo/Drawing
style of the mantel
The style of the mantel is one of the factors which determines the cost of the mantel. Cast stone is a labor intensive process which requires highly skilled artisans. The more complicated and detailed the mantel is, the more expensive it is. While simpler and plain designs can be made by artisans with average level of skills, the complicated designs requires highly skilled workers, and they get paid more. The difference in price between complex designes and simpler one of the same size are about $300 to $400. For example, our simple model MT301-L cost $1950 while our MT705-L, which is the same size as the MT301, costs $2350.
Size of the mantel
The size of the mantel also determines the cost of the mantel. Larger mantels require more materials, and cast stone materials which include stone agregates, white cement, acrylic polymer, alkaline resistance fiber, and color are expensive. In addition larger mantels are heavier and require more workers to handle. It also takes longer to make larger mantels. The good news is that the difference in price of the mantels of the same style but different size is not alot - about $100. For example our MT301-L is only $100 more than our MT301-M, and our MT301-M is only $100 more than our MT301-S.
Can you do demolition and installation?
You can save a lot by doing some of the demolition, if any, of your existing mantel and install you new mantel. We charge $300 for the installation regardless of the size and style. It takes on the average about 5 hours for our two workers to complete the installation. For the demolition of your existing mantel, we charge $50 per hour for two workers, and it normally takes about 30 minutes to 2 hours to remove or demolish your existing mantel. The demolition and installation are very easy to do and most of our customers (home owners) can accomplish the task by themselves or with a helper. We have a couple of installation videos on our website which show you how to demolish your existing mantel and install your new mantel. We ship more than 50% of our mantels outside California, an most of our out-of-state customers were able to do the installation by themselves or hire a local contractor to install the mantel. Most contractors or mason persons will take the job if they are shown the installation videos on our website.
Custom Made From Your Photo/Drawing
If you don't like any mantel from our large collection of 189 mantels, we can make one for you from your photo or drawing. However, this will cost a lot more because we need to make new model of your mantel from the photo, and then we need to make new molds from the model. Not only this will cost more - about three times more than if you choose from our existing catalog , but it will take about 4 weeks more to make the mantel from your photo or drawing.
Please check out our Mantels Catalog to see all the sizes, styles, and the prices associated with all of our mantels.
