How to measure your fireplace for your Iron Doors
Our fireplace door can be made with lips or without lips. The doors without lip will be installed inside your stone veneer, and doors with lips will be installed with the lips stay on your stone veneer. When you measure, please measure the width of the opening from stone to stone and the height from stone to stone. Please also email or text us a photo along with your measurements.
Doors Without Lips
Below are sample photos to show you how the doors without lips are installed. As you can see, the doors without lips are suitable for fireplace with stone veneer that is not even with big dips and rises. The entire door, one inch thick, will go entirely inside your stone veneer if your stone veneer is more that 1" thick, or it will go partially in if your stone veneer is less than 1" thick. We normally leave a gap of about 1/8 inch between your stone veneer and the outter door frame.
Doors With Lips
Below are sample photos to show you how the doors with lips are installed. As you can see, the doors with lips are suitable for fireplace with stone veneer that is even or flat like marble, granite, or cast stone. While the frame still goes inside your stone veneer, the lips will stay or rest on your veneer. You can see that in this case there is no gap between your stone veneer and the door frame because the lips rest on your flat veneer. It overhang or cover about 3/8" of your stone venner.
